About me...

Picture
I am a dedicated amateur rider who, like many others, work full time, fit my horses in around it, and have a dream to compete at grassroots level eventing. I hope that my blog can capture the highs, lows, thrills and spills of that journey, using my writing to share some other topical issues such as product reviews, event reports and tips picked up along the way.

I work full time as a Communications Officer (PR/Marketing/Press combined) for Macmillan Cancer Support, and also write equestrian articles and event reports on a freelance basis, previously for Horsemart, and currently have a weekly eventing column in the Swindon Advertiser reporting on the local riders. My PR work, writing and blogging is arguably more prolific at this stage than my riding, but both I am passionate about in equal quantities!

I have been riding since the age of 4, but a mixture of having no transport, or at various times having a horse who didn't like to load following an accident, meant that my competition experience over the years has been limited - not for lack of desire!

After years of being a 'live to jump' type, I realized that in actual fact, to event, you do need to do some dressage too! Cue my trainer, who has had a large job on her hands helping me change and develop my riding and my knowledge accordingly! I think jumping will always be my passion, and comes more naturally to me, but with continued work, practice and a lot of sweat, I'm hopeful that I can achieve my grassroots eventing ambition - and most importantly, have FUN along the way!
